A Cuttlefish is a swimming marine mollusk that resembles a broad squid, having eight arms and two long tentacles that are used for grabbing prey. Its internal skeleton is cuttlebone, which it uses for adjusting buoyancy.
The lifespan of cuttlefish is typically around one to two years, depending on the species. They hatch from eggs fully developed, around 6 mm long, reaching 25 mm around the first two months.
Cuttlefish are carnivores and their diet mostly consists of crabs, shrimp and fish.
Squid and Cuttlefish Day is celebrated to raise the awareness of Cephalopods in the ocean.
You always have such amazing photos and videos. We’ll have to dive together sometime. 🙂
