This Whitetip Reef Shark (Triaenodon obesus) circled us several times. Each time, the shark circled closer and closer. On this pass, the sneaky shark approached us from the bottom of the reef and came in for a closer inspection.
I was not planning on filming this shark. I was attempting to film several different species of fish on the reef. I am convinced the shark observed that I was no longer making eye contact with it and decided to test an ambush. Fortunately, I kept track of it’s location and captured this close encounter.
