I spent a week diving off the coasts of Dumaguete, Dauin and Apo Island in the Philippines. My friends and I basically ate, dived and slept. I created a lot of video and photographs underwater. After all, we were scuba diving about 4-5 times per day for a week.
Previously, I posted my top 10 images from the week of diving and a full trip report. Below are images I like but didn’t make the previous posts. Once again, thanks to the dive guides and support staff at the Atmosphere Resort & Spa.
I did my best to identify each creature. Please leave a message if you think I mis-identified any of the critters.
Underwater images were created by me on a Sealife DC2000 compact camera. Here’s a link to my underwater set-up.
To anyone that made it to the end. LOL! Do you like this format for images or the layout on this page? Let me know, it would be very helpful. Thanks!
These may not have made the top 10 but they are still incredible!

Did you see this video? https://healthyfoodcarehouse.com/index.php/2020/02/17/divers-risk-it-all-to-swim-next-to-biggest-great-white-shark-ever-recorded/?fbclid=IwAR1dRP1yEa9S1tuUdLNTqpEwNVBD8qkjQhDWrRMKDVkC67FaMrG24SuOYO4 Would you do it? I am leaning towards YES.

Yes, I follow her or someone who was on the trip via Instagram. I’m not thrilled with divers touching sharks. And I’m not sure I would free dive with a shark of that size. But since they watched it feed all day, I guess it was pretty safe to get into the water.

I agree, although I have pet some nurse sharks in Grand Cayman. the jury is still out on whether or not I would dive with this big shark. I am leaning towards yes, even if it was my last hoorah. It looks like a female and she looks pregnant, but then what do i know. 🙂

I had a similar nurse shark experience in Belize. However, the nurse sharks comes to you. It looked like she was reaching out to touch the shark.
Diving with a shark 2-3x your size is pretty intimidating unless you are pretty sure you’re the fast swimmer out of the other divers. Lol!

That is very true. The sharks came up to us and wanted to be pet. I would never pet a wild animal otherwise. 🙂

Love it!!!! There are so many sharks in Belize. I was dubbed “The Shark Whisperer” on Belize, a name that has stuck ever since. 🙂

Hey Scuba Hank! What amazing photographs! An amazing array of nudibranchs you’ve got there!
I have a friend who lives in Dumaguete and I’m beginning to get the itch to head out there. I’d love to hear your take on it!
Thanks for sharing!

I live in NYC so it take some time and multiple airplanes to get there. But it’s definitely worth it. There is marine life that you can only find in the coral triangle and there’s a lot of it. Tons of
Seahorses, Frogfish, pipefish, nudibranchs, 7-8 different species of octopus – including the blue-ringed octopus. Also, the flight from Manila is easy and the people are nice. I highly recommend diving the region. Just make sure you have a good guide. They know where all of the very tiny stuff hides/lives.

Brilliant! Thanks for your advice and I’ll definitely be uploading myself a post for sure!
Another question. Your images are fabulous. Have you watermarked them? Would it be possible to use any of your images if I was to credit you however you would like to be credited? Not a problem if not, just thought I would ask!

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
