Diving aboard the Aggressor Fleet liveaboard in the Andaman Sea of southern Thailand offers a once‑in‑a‑lifetime blend of dramatic coral pinnacles, schooling pelagics and hidden macro treasures. Over a 7‑day voyage departing from Khao Lak (Phang Nga Province, Thailand) I explored renowned sites such as Richelieu Rock, Koh Bon and Koh Tachai, seeking both wide‑angle reef scenes and tight macro subjects for underwater cinematography. My goal on board was to leverage both ambient‑light scenes and strobe‑lit macro frames, combining dive‑log precision with creative image work.
This video highlights most of the fish I observed during my dive trip in Thailand. We were diving off the Thailand Aggressor liveaboard. All of our diving was in the Andaman Sea. We were able to dive the Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Richelieu Rock, and the Surin Islands.
We came across a lot of Octopuses while diving in the North Andaman Sea. Later I found out that it was the beginning of Octopus mating season. I compiled a few clips of my favorite’s and added a few fun facts to the video.
We also observed a lot of Parapricantus Ransonneti which is commonly referred to as Glassfish and/or Golden Sweepers.
It was also during this trip that I logged my 500th dive — a personal milestone that underscored how much time I’ve spent underwater documenting marine life and refining my approach to filming.
Life aboard the Thailand Aggressor was well-paced — we dived multiple times per day (typically four or five dives including night dives), with generous surface intervals and quiet evenings reviewing footage under open sky. Between dives, I noted how quickly light shifted over the Andaman — crisp mornings giving way to soft gold by late afternoon, influencing both mood and exposure. The camaraderie among divers and crew made long dive days feel effortless, with quick cylinder swaps and hot meals between dives.
For anyone interested in the intersection of travel, filmmaking, and marine life, a December trip aboard a Thailand liveaboard offers vivid light, warm water, and an ocean that feels alive with possibility.
