Blue-Spotted Stingray

Just after dawn, the team descended on a shipwreck off the coast of Egypt. While other scuba divers immediate dashed in to explore the shipwreck. I noticed a few of Blue-Spotted Stingrays patrolling the ocean floor around the shipwreck. One stingray was followed by a number of fish along with the Lizardfish.

I love this clip because you can see the Stingray try to push the Lizardfish away. The Lizardfish holds his or her ground.

This month’s Chasing Clouds explores the Seychelles, focusing on its dynamic skies over two weeks across Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue. Predators: The Survivor — A Tiger Shark with a Broken Jaw (Maldives)

Most of us have a specific image of what defines an apex shark—speed, power, and dominance. But off the coast of Fuvahmulah, I spent time with Luana, a resident tiger shark navigating the blue with a severe, permanent jaw injury. This film is a study of her quiet resilience and how she has adapted to…

The Peacock-tail Anemone Shrimp (Periclimenes brevicarpalis) exemplifies the beauty of marine life in the Indo-Pacific, featuring a clear body, white patches, and blue-tipped limbs. This tiny shrimp thrives within anemones, benefiting from protection and cleaning others. Though small, it’s a sought-after macro photography subject, symbolizing Indonesia’s vibrant reef ecosystem.

Very cool! Where is your favorite place to dive?

That’s a super hard question to answer. It depends on what I would like to see… I like Indonesia and Philippines when it come to small critters. The Maldives and Mexico (Pacific side) are great for larger animals – like sharks. There are so many great places to dive in the world.

Very true. We dive mostly in the Caribbean, but we have dived many other places too. Cozumel is by far our favorite place to go, at least for now, 🙂

Cozumel is great. I’ve been there a bunch of times but I still haven’t seen the Splendid Toadfish which is endemic to Cozumel.

We see them all the time. One of our dive masters who we dive with all the time is great at finding them.

They only appear on dives I’m not on. 😂

🙂 🙂 🙂 Dive with Julio and Ishi and I guarantee Ishi will see them and spot them out for you. 🙂

Thanks! I’ll add them to my list and try them next time I’m in Cozumel.

Want to join us in Bonaire? We will be staying at the DIVI.

Maybe, I still have a few trips that I booked before covid. I need to clear those first since they have my either full payment or a deposit.

        Where are you going?

Where are you going? We will be staying at the DIVI. My husband will probably book it this weekend. I will let you know more details as we make them if you are interested. 🙂

I’ve stayed at the Divi once. It’s a nice hotel and dive shop. I like its proximity to town.

I’ve got trips to the Philippines and Indonesia lined up.

Cool beans! I have never dived either of those places. We have stayed at the Divi too. We like it.

I love the lizard fish standing her ground – not seen one of those before.

They are kinda fun to watch. They are super curious and often will allow you to take several photo of them without moving.
