First Day of Diving Tiger Shark Zoo

Diving with Tiger Sharks has been on my “list” for a long time. I’ve seen a few Tiger Sharks in the Galapagos and in Fiji. The sharks were never too interested in us and quickly moved on. So, I haven’t had a chance to really observe them for long periods of time.

Fuvahmulah is an island located in the middle of the Indian Ocean. It is one of the southernmost islands in the Maldives. Scuba divers have discovered the island hosts a wide variety of pelagic creatures such as Tiger Sharks.

There are not many places in the world where you can easily spot Tiger Sharks daily. This makes the island extremely unique for shark enthusiasts.

During my short visit, I saw about 25 different Tiger Sharks. I quickly noticed each shark has something unique in their appearance besides their strips. For example, in the clip above, the Tiger Sharks dorsal fin is deformed. The dive guides suspect the Tiger Shark might have been hit by a propeller.

The dive site is rightly named Tiger Shark Zoo.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll have more clips from my dives. There are a few other Tiger Sharks in the group that distinctively stood-out which I can’t wait to share.

Stay Tuned!
