Lionfish Search Results – Myths and Realities

When you search for lionfish in the US, the majority of sources state that lionfish are an invasive species. However, this is not true globally. Lionfish are native to the Indo-Pacific region, where they are a natural part of the ecosystem.

The invasive status of lionfish primarily applies to the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, where they have been introduced and have caused significant ecological disruption.

No matter where they are, I enjoy taking pictures and videos of them.

They are beautiful, AND they are good eating too. You have to cut the spines off and thoroughly rinse and clean them, then cook them. They are a delicious white meat, with little fishy taste. 🙂
