Barracuda – Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park

The Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park in the Philippines is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning marine biodiversity. Home to species like the Great Barracuda and Blackfin Barracuda, these impressive fish can reach lengths of up to 1.5 meters. They thrive in the park’s clear waters, often seen hunting in small groups or alone, primarily feeding on smaller fish.

Schooling Barracuda

Diving in Tubbataha offers a unique opportunity to encounter these apex predators in their natural habitat, making it a must-visit for underwater enthusiasts. The park’s protection ensures a healthy marine ecosystem, preserving the balance of fish populations and the overall health of the reef.

And yes… I was slightly nervous when they turned in my direction.

They are pretty cool underwater. Their strips remind me of zebras.

It was a pretty large school. I didn’t think they would turn towards me. Needless to say, I was pretty nervous when they did.
