Habitat and Distribution: Green Moray Eels in Grenada are commonly found in the coral reefs surrounding the island. These eels prefer rocky crevices and reefs as their habitats, making the diverse underwater landscapes of Grenada an ideal location.
Appearance and Size: The Green Moray Eel has a distinctive greenish color due to a yellow mucus covering its blue skin. They can grow quite large, often reaching lengths of up to 8 feet, making them an imposing sight for divers and snorkelers in Grenadian waters.
Diet and Hunting Behavior: In Grenada, like elsewhere, Green Moray Eels are carnivorous, feeding primarily on fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods. They are known for their ambush hunting technique, where they wait in crevices and quickly snatch prey that swims too close.
Interaction with Humans: While intimidating in appearance, Green Moray Eels in Grenada are generally not aggressive towards humans unless provoked or threatened. Divers are often advised to admire them from a safe distance to avoid any potential risk.
Conservation Status: In Grenada, as in many parts of the world, the Green Moray Eel is not currently considered endangered. However, they are affected by general threats to marine ecosystems, such as habitat destruction and pollution. Conservation efforts in marine protected areas around Grenada help in preserving their natural habitat.

My favorite Carribbean Isle. My bite got bit and held down by a moray eel once. They are quite strong.
They have horrible eyesight. I hope there was a quick recovery, I’m guessing a bite can’t feel good.
I think I’ll settle for seeing them up close on your blog site, Hank!
LOL!
I didn’t know the green was really yellow mucus on blue skin. (Never figured it was wise to pet one 😉 )
NICE POST 💜💗❤️🩵🧡💙

Thanks for sharing. Got a chance to feed them at Atlantis in the Bahamas, it was such a cool experience
They are such interesting creatures. I didn’t realize Atlantis had them in the their tank.
Yes they do. If you go there, check out The Dig , that’s where you’ll see them
