FROM THE DEPTHS

Most people think of tiger sharks as invincible apex predators. But off the coast of Fuvahmulah, I found a different story. While exploring the reefs in Grand Cayman, I ran into this member of the grouper family. The Coney (Cephalopholis fulva) is known for its incredible color variations, but this reddish-brown phase is a classic look.

    We got to dive with them in Catalina one year. They were so much fun. Very curious about everything. Very cool pictures. happy thanksgiving to you and yours. 🙂
