Thanks to the Bonaire Tourism Board I was able to spend a week diving in Bonaire. This was my third dive trip to Bonaire and this time I lodge at Captain Don’s Habitat. Captain Don’s is one of the first dive resort’s on Bonaire and is perfectly located to explore the island.

The room I was assigned was great for the average scuba diver. The room had magnificent ocean views off the private balcony. And featured the common amenities a modern traveler should expect such as A/C, desk, cable TV (US/Miami feed), refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, laptop safe.

Captain Don’s facilities are great. There are lockers where you can store your gear between dives. (While the resort is quite safe, bring a lock to secure your gear.) Full tanks were available on the dive dock, in the locker area and near the main office near the parking lot 24/7. The food and drinks were good at the restaurant and bar.

I executed several morning boat dives not accessible by shore. Most of the boat dives were off the coast of Klein Bonaire. In the afternoon and evening, I mostly shore dived at various points around the island.

Also during the week, I did one night with Bas on the east side of the island. Most people do not dive this side of the island. Marine life is abundant and there are not a lot of divers. We did a 110 minute night dive which was amazing.

I can’t wait for my next trip to this wonderful island.
